Chaturanga is a strategic war game that takes famous battles in history and puts the user in the perspective of the victorious commander. The users goal is to make strategic decisions that help their army win the battle. There is no actual shooter gameplay, it is purely about strategy and timing. The graphics are intended to be sleek and resemble a futuristic war room 3D map. Battle progress and regiment statistics are displayed using various statistics on the icons on the map. Different armies have different personnel and strategies, and every map has a unique armies and terrain.
The above images show the main menu sequence of the game, the background is a moving image that showcases some of the personnel units used in the game including archers, infantry, elephantry, and much more. All Icons in the background image as well as the whole background were designed using Adobe Illustrator.
These images were captured from the V1 build on MacOS. The images show the player using several key game features like placing and moving units. The map shown is the first level of the game, the battle of Milvian Bridge, where the user must lead his forces across the Tiber River into Rome as the mighty Constantine, this level also features a tutorial. The game is built in Unity3D (C#) and all assets were made in Unity or Blender.
